YES-NO THERAPY
Khinian Therapy
VIEW TO HUMAN NATURE
I believed that people were trying to look for the answers to the problems they were encountering. A stress person usually shares his problems to others. Sometimes he thinks that following others’ opinion can be helpful and can be the best thing to choose. To share their problems is one way to have an outlet to lessen their stress.
DEVELPOMENT OF MALADAPTIVE BEHAVIOR
As people depend on others’ opinion they tend not to solve those problems by themselves. They will be used to be dependent on what other will say or advices. But at the end, when others’ advices didn’t work or might result failure they come up with the idea of blaming others and will be regretful of following them. As they do that they are establishing doubt on others’ words. The chance is they won’t believe others and it’ll be difficult to rebuild their trust.
GOALS OF THE THERAPY
The ultimate goal of the therapy is to teach the client to handle his own problem and to decide for his own good. In a way that he will consult his own perception. He’s going to answer the yes-no questions given by the therapists. For him to come up with the pros and cons of the decision he’ll be making.
FUNCTION OF THE THERAPIST
The therapists don’t give advices most of the time. They will just prepare questions based on the client situation. They will try to show to the client the other side of the coin whatever his answer will be. They will let the client to reason out why he chooses his answer. They will also ask for the benefits and effects of his answers. The therapists will jot down his observation especially to the overt behavior and the reaction of the client himself. Then they will sum the observation so as to have an assessment and evaluation to his case; until the client build his own decision regarding to his problems.
